Overview

As part of the National Open Access Strategy, Swiss Universities has negotiated so-called Read & Publish Agreements with numerous major academic publishers. In addition to read access to the publishers' content, members of Swiss Universities, including members of the three Lucerne Universities, can publish Open Access in thousands of journals at no additional cost. 

Procedure

  • Check whether the desired journal is included in the agreement (see title lists of the individual publishers below)
  • The corresponding author must belong to one of the Lucerne universities
  • The institutional e-mail address must be used for registration/submission
  • Select «Gold Open Access» if the Swiss agreement is mentioned

Agreements HSLU only

There is a Read & Publish Agreement with the following publishers, which only applies to members of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences:

Frontiers

Members of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts can publish in all Frontiers journals at no additional cost: The fee is paid directly via the Open Access Publication Fund of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Authors of the HSLU must register with their institutional email address and indicate the HSLU as affiliation.

IEEE 30.11.2021–31.12.2024

Members of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts can publish in 25 open access journals of the publisher IEEE. Hybrid journals are not included in the agreement. In order to benefit from the agreement, corresponding authors must register with their HSLU e-mail address and indicate HSLU as their institution.

ACM 1.6.2022–31.12.2025

A Read&Publish Agreement with the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) has been in place since 1 June 2022. Members of the HSLU can publish Open Access in hundreds of ACM journals at no additional cost if they are Corresponding Authors, register with their institutional e-mail address and indicate the HSLU as an affiliation.

IOP 2022-2024

A Read&Publish Agreement with IOP Publishing has been in place since 1 January. Members of the HSLU can publish Open Access in around 50 hybrid and almost 20 Gold Open Access journals at no additional cost.

There is a Read&Publish Agreement with RSC. Members of the HSLU can publish Open Access in around 35 hybrid and almost 20 Gold Open Access journals at no additional cost.
